Part of Emma’s body of work – Love’s Lexicon
Ludus, derived from the Latin word for play or game, refers to playful, noncommittal love. It encompasses flirting, seduction, and casual sex, embodying the concept of love as a game.
I wanted to try and express this type of love with sweeping dynamic marks, dream-like emotional imagery, multiple layers of texture and media in hot colours, and even scattered imprints of my own lips in various shades of pink and red lipstick. We all know that this type of love can be hugely enjoyable – but only if both the ‘players’ agree on the rules.
