This painting is inspired by an essay by Maria Popova of The Marginalian, about John Muir, and our connection to all things in the universe – (John Muir = pioneering environmental philosopher and naturalist)
When I get tight, small and anxious in any area of my life, I like to try zooming way out in my mind and the altered perspective gives me great comfort, peace and hope. I imagine the view might look something like this.
The Whole Universe as an Infinite Storm of Beauty was created using my usual energetic hotch-potch of found and bought media, including bran flakes which provide the most glorious little texture clusters! I seal them with PVA and varnish and then work over the top.
